"Keep Calm and Flutter On" was the supposed "episode" where Discord was supposed to be reformed. I overreacted to the revealing of Twilight becoming a princess but that's not what this is about. Most people don't seem to like this season. This season seems to be the most controversial of them all from what I've seen. He was probably the most interesting villain of them all. When Discord was introduced in Season 2, I actually did like him. Maybe an explanation is in order?Īt least in terms of why I don't like Discord and I can't accept his so-called "Reformation" which is pretty much a bold faced lie and he hasn't reformed at all IMO. So since I'm constantly surrounded by "controversial" opinions/stuff in general for whatever reason. Possibly the worst episode I've watched of the whole series. In fact, for me, it was the worst of the season. This episode was very painful to watch and I am going binge on the previous 4 seasons to wipe it from my memory.Okay. I’d rather watch Garbage Pail Kids the movie in 3D Imax that watch this episode again. There cannot be any episodes worse than this, it is impossible. I don’t know how MLP FIM can go from the magnum opus of the Season 5 premier to this horrid filler episode. I never liked Discord from the beginning as he offers nothing to Equestria and this new pony just pisses of off to no end and hopefully we have seen the last of her. The fact that Fluttershy would even take her to an important event like the Gala degrades Fluttershy even further as being the dumbest of the Mane Six. Here appearance is very unappealing and dirty looking. I feel she is even worse that Prince Blue Blood. Then there is Tree Hugger, the worst pony that I have ever seen out of all 5 seasons. Trying to bring an entity from generation 1 and subverting it as something as Discord’s way of ruining the Gala was a huge fail. Celestia appearing more stupid, thus wasted character development for her. There were too many references that I saw as ways to try to save a botched episode. The Maud Pie cameo is wasted and she probably will not appear for the rest of season 5. The all important Grand Galloping Gala is treated as an after thought and is only in half the episode. I thought that this was the worst episode ever. Sadly though, this is definitely the worst Discord episode. (Still, it’d be interesting to see her have a conversation with Zecora.) The message driven home by Fluttershy’s dialogue in the climax was very well-executed. Tree Hugger is a great character in concept and voice, but ends up being a parody. Much of his dialogue is more cringe-worthy than the usual entertainment we’re used to. Discord just seemed rather off writing wise almost the entire time. The Smooze was an okay character, though more of a plot device than anything. A highlight was seeing Discord’s world for the first time, which was appropriately trippy. It was quite sweet seeing Applejack for example making note that her little sister’s “all grown up” since it’s the latter’s first gala. Nicole Oliver does an excellent job voicing the new pony, and the concept is interesting. Writer of the episode Natasha Levinger sadly makes her our to be a parody, which is a shame. One of the main things was the introduction of new character Tree Hugger. But it’s like a bad writing attempt at him throughout the episode. Considering the fact he’s the most sarcastic character in the show, one would think all his lines would be great. The entire sequence where he tries to be a stand-out comedy was painful. I had warmed up to the idea of him being a good guy, but here he’s pretty much a joke. It’s a solid lesson, but at the expense of Discord’s character. Basically, a close friend of yours might be jealous if you have another friend, but ultimately realizes that it doesn’t change the friendship. This applies here, though it’s not the worst. It felt like a random Spongebobepisode where nothing really happens. My main problem with the episode “Lesson Zero”is that it just seemed mindless. When Discord learns that Fluttershy is taking a new friend to the Grand Galloping Gala instead of him, he goes to extreme lengths to prove that he isn’t upset about it. Here’s the official description from Discovery Family: Somehow however the episode actually ended up being more on the mediocre side. (One of the very best episodes in my opinion is the finale of that season, “The Best Night Ever.”) So, two important things was happening here: Discord and the Gala. The Grand Galloping Gala has been major event in the show since Season 1. By now of course it’s something to accept, and the writers have been utilizing him well. Many to this day still don’t like the fact that he’s reformed. The last time he appeared was in the Season 4 finale. Whenever Discord is involved, you know the episode will be entertaining.
